MY REVIEW:

The movie is a Psychological Drama/Thriller released in the year 2000 based on the book of the same name by Hubert Selby Jr.

The movie is Directed by Darren Aronofsky who has directed great movies like Black Swan ,Fighter ,etc. In this movie he does a great job of portraying all the emotions through the great camerawork and editing style of the movie .He does not fail to capture the extreme euphoria and addiction caused by the use of drugs and how it affects the characters lives .

The movie has an excellent music score which which captures and amplifies the extreme emotions caused by the drug use in the movie ,it captures and portrays the euphoric feel as well as the hidden pain and malice caused by drug use simultaneously through the score. The camerawork with the 50/50 shots and the close zoomed in shots of the characters capturing the emotions through the eyes and their face is done in the most stunning way .

The movie has a star cast of Jennifer Connelly, Jared Leto, Ellen Burstyn ,Marlon Wayans who give a stunning performance with such great depth and commitment to the characters .The performances truly heighten the quality of the movie overall .
